WendyGPhotography (http://www.wendygphoto.com/) is a member of New Wedding and Event Planners Group.  I met Wendy a couple of years ago and we have worked together several times.  When I have an initial meeting with a client and produce one of Wendy's albums, the conversation changes from how can you plan my wedding to when can I meet Wendy.  Her work speaks volume to her professionalism, craft, keen eye for detail and passion.  Unbeknowst to me, Wendy's work has been featured with the following publications:  BRIDES Connecticut and Grace Ormonde WEDDING STYLE.  She has also been featured in Essence Magazine, The New York Times, The Knot, BRIDES, and The Park Slope Reader

New Wedding and Event Planners Group -- New Members

Cassandra Rosario:  I met Cassandra at ABC's Latin Wedding Traditions last week.  Ms. Rosario recently graduated with her bachelor's degree in hospitality and is now working for Salsa Caterers and Special Events in the position of Event Consultant.  She worked as an intern last year with the company (internships do pay off).

Gaudys Pena:  Is a co-worker of Cassandra and she is also an event consultant with Salsa Caterers & Special Events.

Note:  If you are looking for catering company that specializes in Latino cuisine, please do not hesitate to contact Salsa Caterers & Special Events, 4006 Third Avenue, Bronx, New York 10457; office: 718-716-2020; fax: 718-716-2525; website: http://www.salsacaterers.com/

Rhoda Wasswas is the owner of AFRho Chique (http://www.afrchochique.com/).   AFRho Chique is a boutique event planning service for afro-inspired events in New York City. We work with a different niche in event planning and our event planning solution caters to the african diaspora looking to host signature events in the New York City area. We also cater parties to other demographics but primarily sought out the diaspora due to the lackluster events we've attended in the past.

Her company has been in existence forever but the brand is relatively new. She decided to go forward with starting the company late last year and have been blessed and successful since she started. Slowing building her network with a diverse group of vendors who cater to almost every aspect.  Ms. Wasswas will be attending EFYP's/NWEP's seminar on July 26th.

Welcome Ladies!  If at anytime, you have any questions or inquiries, please feel free to contact me.  Thank you.

New Wedding and Event Planners Group Newsletter, June 11, 2011

NWEP:

Good morning. This weekend should be cooler in New York. Will send NWEP an email tomorrow with some promised information. One of our members has two preaching engagements; will advise you of same as soon as I receive additional information. It is always a good idea to support one another. Enjoy your weekend.

New Member:

Melissa Rodriguez of Pink Chic Events has joined NWEP. She was referred by Kisha Kingston of Royal Amethyst Invitations. Will send additional information about Ms. Rodriguez later next week. Welcome to the group Melissa. At anytime if you have any questions or inquiries, please feel free to contact me.

NWEP Directory: From time to time, I may receive a request for a referral for a vendor and I cannot remember which member services a particular industry. If everyone was to provide me with some information about the type of services they offer, I would be able to send leads directly to you. Please let me know if you would like to have additional information concerning the directory. So far, I have five people who want to be included in the directory but almost seventy members.

What's Happening with NWEP:

NWEP's Blog: We now have a blog -- http://nwepgroup.blogspot.com. Feel free to follow (still creating its content, format, etc.). Please let me know if you would like to be a guest blogger. This blog will list all events and will memoralize some of our newsletters. A new format for the newsletters will occur soon as well as a calendar program -- I promise. Please do not forget if you know of anyone that could benefit from this group, please send me an email.

NWEP's Twitter Account: nwepgroup. I am also in the process of creating a Twitter account for NWEP and following some of its members. If you would like NWEP Group to follow you on Twitter, please send me your link. Your events, new products and ideas can be promoted on NWEP's Twitter account.

In the future for NWEP:

a. Industry networking group (August/Septemer 2011)
b. gathering for NWEP's members (August/September 2011)
c. newsletter program with calendar (and have events listed for those members who do not live in the tri-state area (Buffalo, CA, MO, FL and DC/VA) (July/August 2011)
d. website
e, NWEP's directory (August 2011 -- need more information from members)

Is there anything else you would like NWEP to incorporate into its goals for 2011 for you? Please let me know.

Royale Amethyst Invitations: Check out some of Kisha's latest designs: http://bit.ly/i7ujEk This information will be included on NWEP's blog and Twitter account. You can never get too much (positive) exposure.

Trunk Show: If you have never attended a trunk show and would like to attend one, Angela Lemos (a new bridal designer who specializes in celebratory wear, mother of the bride, bridesmaids dresses) is having a trunk show on June 27, 2011. Please visit her website: www.angelalemos.com for additional information.

PO Box v. UPS v. Mail Box Etc.: If you have a home based business, you may not want to use your home address as your business address. Do you use another source for your mailing address? I use a PO Box address and have been using the same address for approximately seventeen years. I prefer a PO Box because of its convenience; do not have to worry about the company going out of business or relocating and the fees are reasonable. The only drawback is that some companies do not deliver to a PO Box -- that is okay with me.

Targeted Lists: Has anyone purchased and/or used a targeted lists to increase your bottomline?

"A brides wedding day can be the most important and memorable day in her life. It is also probably the most expensive day in her life. A typical couple spends an average of $20,000 - $30,000 on their wedding and honeymoon (and this is a low estimate). Most Recently, With Direct Targeted Marketing Wedding Service Providers such as Limo Companies, Caterers, Wedding Halls, Bridal Shops, Floral Shops, DJ's, Video Services, Beauty Shops and Photographers have been enjoying the Great Response they get with our list of Newly Engaged Brides to Be List. They are able to reach these high ticket prospects at the time their Services are needed the most. less LSDI - Targeted List Services & Ethnic Religious Encoding listservicedirect.com NINA GRAY 201-585-1447"

Pearl Studios: Event Space for Planners (NYC)

Pearl Studios: Event Space for Seminars, Meetings, Temp Office Space, Interviews, etc. If you are in need of event space in NYC, please do not sleep on Pearl Studios (PS). I just had a site visit at PS's new studios (519 Eighth Avenue, 12th Floor) with Steve from its booking department. Presently, PS has studio space at 500 Eighth Avenue on the 4th and 12th floors. The new space (519 Eighth Avenue) which will be available on July 1, 2011 will have an identical concept as the event space on the 12th floor at 500 Eighth Avenue.

510 Eighth Avenue will consist of 12 studios: 3 large, 3 medium and 5 small. Each room has mirrors (which you can cover up), piano, fire alarm and airconditioner which is controlled by the occupant. Tables, chairs, portable stereo and tv/dvd can be used for your event space at no additional cost to you. You can also provide food for your event and PS does not charge you for same. If you are in need of a temporary office space, PS provides those services as well. I have switched my seminar space from 500 to 519 and the room I have selected has approximately 6 windows and a water view.

PS also provides computers that you can use in the vestibule of the 12th floor. I think there is a time limit for same. Please visit: www.pearlstudiosnyc.com for their rates (which are reasonable).

New Wedding and Event Planners Group (NWEP)

New Wedding and Event Planners Group (NWEP) was created in 2011 with the notion to assist new wedding and event planners with learning the business of planning; developing and growing their business; and networking at industry events with other planners and vendors. Other goals of NWEP is to keep its members informed of industry trends, seminars/conferences/workshops, assist members with their growth as a planner and business owner, and provide services that will make you them the best planner possible. Once a day a newsletter is sent consisting of information concerning the wedding and event industry and also jobs (internship, volunteer opportunities and full and part time employment) for planners and vendors.

Captioned below is a description of the group. It is best that you participate in some of the networking events that are highlighted in our daily newsletters.

Why Join NWEP?

If you are a new wedding or event planner, congratulations. NWEP will keep you abreast of industry trends, "must go to" seminars and workshops, contract writing, how to find the venue and vendor that meets your clients' expectations, opportunity to network with other vendors, planners and amongst yourselves.

You will grow your skill set as a planner which will eventually increase your exposure and revenues as a business person and planner.

What Benefits Will I Receive Upon Joining NWEP?

Every member that joins the group will receive an email asking:

a. What are your short and long terms goals as a planner and as a business owner.
b. What are your expectations of NWEP?
c. What are your concerns as a new wedding/event planner.

Why join - I am not a new wedding/event planner?

Even though you are a seasoned planner, you can still benefit from NWEP:

a. networking opportunities;
b. keeping abreast of industry trends, classes, seminars and open houses;
c. assisting NWEP with its internship program by allowing new wedding planners the opportunity to assist you with planning your event (or, at the very least, assisting you with day of management). This is cost beneficial to you because there are no monies exchanged and the member will be able to gain first hand experience which is priceless;
d. opportunity to serve as a consultant for a new wedding/event planner; and
e. business to business opportunities, etc.

NWEP will grow as you grow, meeting your demands as a business owner and as a planner.

Membership to the group is complimentary.

Please let me know if you are interested in joining New Wedding and Event Planners Group by sending an email to nwepgroup@yahoo.com. Coming soon, NWEP will also sponsor a bridal industry networking group which will give you the opportunity to network with planners and vendors as well as to discuss those issues that are affecting the industry, i.e., economy, DIY bride, etc.

Thank you in advance for your interest and membership.
